Feats

Feats are how you start to personalize your characters skills and strenghts!
For example as a rogue with lots of Dexterity, you may want "Weapon Finesse", which allows you to use your Dex to hit things instead of strength. Or as a Fighter or Barbarian you may want "Power Attack", which allows you to get more damage at the cost of accuracy.

All characters get a Feat at level 1 and every other level (3, 5, 9 and 11).

Humans get a bonus Feat at level 1 in addition to the normal level 1 Feat.
